Difference between Xiaomi, Mi and Redmi

We will start our tour with good news, the “Mi” suffix is no longer included in the new Xiaomi models, so there will be no need to worry in the future. However, it was the one that had been accompanying the current Xiaomi models until now, the version of the high-end or medium-high-end brand that offers the best features.

Xiaomi models will be followed by a suffix that will determine the exact version of the range, hence we can find "Lite", "Pro" or "Ultra" among others. To give you an idea, this is a list of the last four versions released to the market in which Mi became history with the arrival of version 12:

For its part, the Redmi range is completely different from the models you just saw. Although they are accompanied by Xiaomi, Redmi is a term that has been used for mid-high, medium or even low-end smartphones. Although they offer some really interesting features based on quality-price, we will have two versions that are being renewed; Xiaomi Redmi and Xiaomi Redmi Note, which also include suffixes to differentiate:

Differences with Xiaomi POCO terminals

In the Xiaomi family there is another version called POCO, although in 2021 it became partly independent, it is a type of mid-high or even high-end smartphone especially characterized by offering a high-performance terminal without having to pay for extras and unnecessary functions. Its models are classified into three series:

  • F series: For the top-of-the-range terminals, whose price is higher but tempting, since they do not exceed €600.
  • X Series: For the intermediate range, ideal for frequent use or gaming, with prices around €300.
  • M Series: For the most economical segment whose price is around €200.

It is a terminal that has attracted attention in the market both for its simplicity when using it and for the beautiful designs they offer, with different proposals and finishes so that each user can choose their favourite. The POCO range is still linked to the Xiaomi family in many aspects, although for a couple of years we will no longer see its logo stamped on the terminal.
